Theme-based project: Presentation of a series of 5 images

Lecturer:
No lecturer was conducted but Mr. Vinod asks us to select 5 of our best pictures and write a sample rationale of 250 words. He also emphasize we should include technical considerations in our rationale.

Instruction: Final Project
Theme-based project: Presentation of a series of 5 images.

Student, you have by now completed various exercises on Exposure and composition. This means that you are now able to:1) Control your exposures after pre determining the desired result ala The Zone System (To be able to anticipate the final result before making the exposure)2) Use The Rule of Thirds or principles underpinning composition to identify and compose potential points of interest within the frame.

3) Understand and achieve cons
With the above done and understood, it is now time to put your m1) Control your exposures after pre determining the desired result ala The Zone System (To be able to anticipate the final result before making the exposure)
2) Use The Rule of Thirds or principles underpinning composition to identify and compose potential points of interest within the frame.
3) Understand and achieve consistency
4) Edit at a basic level (next week)
With the above done and understood, it is now time to put your mettle to the test.

Your Task:
Choose a Subject of Interest, i.e.: Architecture, Landscape, Peoples, Person, Still Life, etc. and capture a series of 5 images. You will present the final result in your MS Doc. along with a rationale. You will also update your eportfolio with the said.

To elaborate further:
If the subject is Architecture and the topic is KLCC, you will shoot a series of 5 pictures on that topic only. This work will then be edited in Adobe Photoshop and presented to the class. Of course to achieve a series of 5 pictures you will have to visit the topic several times before achieving pictures of good quality (Exposure, composition, consistency and editing). It is through this process that you will learn to plan your shots before actually photographing them.

Final Shot:

Rationale

Firstly, I decide to select the “Dragon Bread Smoky Cookies’ as my opening shot because the picture give me a feeling and aura on how people react and doing things in Jalan Alor Night Market Street Food. It was exactly my first shot of this picture when I reached Jalan Alor. It was so crowded and hectic where I was squeeze along with anonymous. Whenever I look through this picture, until today, I can feel Jalan  Alor is still a lively fresh night market famous for the street food that always occur a lot of things. Because it was evening, I increase my ISO to 1600 and F5.6S1/125
After introducing the opening shot, I am interested to introduce my next picture that depicts an ice cream stall. The ice cream stall is well known across South East Asia countries such as Vietnam, Philippine, Thailand, and Macau for the magic trick to attract tourist and customers. Today, there are dozens of customers marching to the ice cream stall craving for the delicious ice cream.  Also, I remain my  ISO setting but I adjust my shutter speed in order to get the right color with the zone system guideline :F5.6,S1/80, ISO 1600.

Next, my third shot is burning charcoal view that shows What are the things that happen in Jalan Alor and how does Jalan Alor looks like? I decide to depict the picture because I want to inform my viewers we can always see different things in Jalan Alor by looking things in different angles. My setting is F5.6 ,S1/125 and ISO400 because enough of light entered my camera.

Moreover, I am always interested in capturing people who are unconscious doing things. I find that when people are unconscious they look more nature where I don’t have to ask people to act in order to fulfilling my task. As I enlighten by Mr. Vinod feedback, he told me a photographer should never disturb the subject where we should shot the things are already set there. If we disturb the subject to enhance a photo is call cheating. Thus, I want my viewers to perceive my photography is always natural. I remain my setting as F5.6 ,S1/80 and ISO400 because the hawker stall assist with light.

Last but not least, my final shot is an isolated beggar picture that found in Jalan Alor. My setting is F5.6 ,1/50 and ISO1600 because I require higher light to enter my camera since the beggar locate in a dim place. We know Jalan Alor is famous for the street food however, there are some neglected things that could also be found in Jalan Alor as well. To summarize, Jalan Alor is an exciting food street market where you can find and enjoy different things in he

Feedback

Reflection
Experience:
I do not regret select Jalan Alor as my theme based topic for my final project because I find is very interesting and challenging even though I encounter some difficulties. Still, all efforts pay off!
Observation:
Looking through all the exercises that I had completed, I notice I more focus on unconscious look of people that encourage me to take time to wait and earn they trust to take picture.
Findings:
I learn that there is no easy way to take picture. Going deep down of your ability is the key to explore how to take a good shot of picture
